Anja Bump and Lynda Corliss launched SmarterClose to develop effective programs that help sales people improve their interactions with "the other side" of the table. Their partnership began after working together at an Oregon biotech firm and later moving on to start separate consulting firms. They operate SmarterClose in conjunction with their consulting businesses, Leverage Consulting and Zirna Consulting. When they met, Anja was a supply chain manager, responsible for millions in inventory and procurement. Lynda was a procurement manager for indirect spend supporting non product purchasing areas like IT, HR, Logistics and Marketing. While working together on a challenging international project to implement new systems, they learned they worked well together and had complementary skills and backgrounds.
